Thank God For Dr. Weingarten
I have had tubes basically my whole life. I was told as a teenager that if I had any problems with my ears as I grew older that there was nothing that I could do. I had way too much scar tissue and tubes would be out of the question.
So keeping this in mind I have for half of my life lived with constant headaches, ear pain, not being able to hear properly out of my right ear.
I was recommended by my employer to see Dr. Weingarten, leery that I was I went. After telling me that I have serious allergies that went untreated my WHOLE life by one of the best ENT's in San Diego, I let my guard down and Im glad I did.
I did the treatment he asked for me to do, to no avail it didnt help my ear problems. So the next option was surgery. I was scared and concerned since I was told my whole life that I couldnt have another surgery. Dr. Weingarten explained the pros and cons to me and I went ahead, what could be worse, I already couldnt hear out of the ear.
I had the surgery and Im so excited. I can hear, the headaches are gone, i have no ear pressure and when I lay on that ear at night Im not woken up to horrific pain, I sleep all night with no pain.
I like to thank Dr. Weingarten for giving me my "ear" back. We all have been raised with manners somewhere along the line and have been taught Dont judge a "book" by its cover.

Randall Weingarten
I was very impressed with the time that he took to take care of me. I had a growth on my thyroid and he took out the right lobe of my thyroid. At no time was I concerned with his competence. He came highly recommended from my family doctor, and I am fully satisfied with him and his concern for me as his patient.

Impecable Physician
I have four children and two of them have been seen by Dr. W. He and his office have always been very helpful and caring. One of my daughters had her tonsils removed but only after careful study of her symptoms. My other dauther will have tubes in her ears soon. Dr. W. was more than thorough before perfoming surgery on my children. He has my upmost trust. After reading the other reviews I am sad to think they had a bad experience with this man, but it has not been my case at all. I will continue to see him.

Here's you hat, what's your hurry ?
I can't believe some posters actually rated Dr. W 5 stars. Must have been his own staff that rated !
First of all, his office is cramped, ugly and overbooked.
You're lucky to find an empty chair.
His staff is incompetent and quite rude. The office lost my CAT scan, unforgivable !
Dr. W rushes your visit..You won't get 5 minutes from him. His mind is in a thousand other places. He is extremely unorganized as is his staff.
Finding a great doctor of any kind in Nevada is well near impossible. But, for sure you won't find excellence with Dr. Weingarten.

Happy happy happy!
After reading some of the negative reviews I went into his office with reservations, however, he was recommended to me by my general MD, whom I highly respect, so I went in with an open mind. Upon arriving, his office was so packed there was no place to sit. I thought, oh no this is going to take forever. I was happily surprised. I was in and out within 40 minutes. I didn't feel like the doctor rushed me at all and after being told by another ENT that I had to have surgery Dr. Weingarten wanted to try some other treatments first. I was very happy about that because sinus surgery is NO fun. I have gone back for a follow-up visit and again was in and out quickly. While I am not 100% well yet, I feel like I am getting there and have Dr. Weingarten to thank for that. He has been nothing but friendly and helpful to me. I would certainly have no reservations recommending him and my own doctor brings his family there as well.

By far the best!!
I recently had surgery with Dr. Weingarten, he is fantastic. I don't know what an earlier post is talking about his lack of bedside manner, he was fantastic. He answered every single question that my husband and I had about the surgery, and what to expect. He encouraged us to ask him if we thought of anything else to call him; and he seems to truly care not only about me as his patient, but my family as well. I would recommend Dr. Weingarten to anyone that has to have any type of surgery that he can do. An added bonus, my "scar" from my thryoidectomy is non-existant people that know that I have had the surgery squint at my neck and say, you can't even tell! He did a phenomenal job; not that makes or breaks the decision to go to him, but if you're concerned about that, he is perfect.

Excellent ENT
I owe my health to Dr. Weingarten. For the time that he has been my surgeon, I have found him to be kind, empathetic and patient. He not only took the time to answer my questions, but he made sure that he stayed to answer the questions that anxious mother had on my behalf. Dr. W. has been nothing but patient, talented and skilled. I've never felt like I was not in the best hands possible during the entire process. I can see how with some people, certainty can be interpreted as arrogance, and brevity with impatience. I know that the first time I saw him, his waiting room was packed with patients, so every moment he took to chitchat is time taken away from those who are waiting for him. However, the office is well-run, with nurses and staff who go above and beyond what is required of them. They are in the office at 7 a.m. and yet I still get a call at the end of the day at 6 p.m. when I leave a message. I am so incredibly appreciative of this, because I know that this is the time that they could be spending with their families. That's dedication, and that is the level of professionalism that I have never experienced with "bad" doctors. Dr. Weingarten and his staff is truly best around and as one of the best.

deviated septum
My follow-up appointment after surgery didn't go as well as I expected. I was there to get the packing out of my nose and I felt like I was rushed out of the office and left in pain for the night. I expressed those concerns to Dr. Weingarten the next day by faxing a letter to his office (his office was closed until 3pm the next day so I chose to fax the letter). That night I was shocked to receive a telephone call at home from Dr. Weingartenit was about 8:00pm. He profusely apologized and said he had a family emergency, thus all of his patients had been rushed that day. He offered to meet me at his office that night, at around 9:30pmthat should tell you something about Dr. Weingarten..he even gave me his home phone number in case I had any other issues. He again apologized, explained the family emergency, and gave me a thorough exam and explanation of my surgery. I couldn't believe, and was very appreciative, that the Doctor took that time away from his family to see a patient that was in pain and upset at an earlier appointment. I could tell that the Doctor's apology was sincere and that rushing his patients was not part of his work ethic. My following appointment later that week again showed the care and concern he has for his patients. Everyone in the office was very nice and the Doctor took plenty of time to examine and explain everything again to me.
Dr Weingarten is one of the best ENT's in town. He has developed his own techniques to ensure you have a very successful surgery. He shows extreme dedication to his patients and is available 24/7literally. He's very kind and sincere in his words.
I won't liethe surgery was painfulbut Dr Weingarten will do anything he can to make you feel comfortableeven if it means taking phone calls until the wee hours of the morning.

HE DOES CARE
Dr. Weingarten wants to be a doctor who cares but sometimes tries to do too much for his patients. It probably can be stressful at times for him to balance everything in his life. Dr. Weingarten is willing to improve and change for the betterment of his patient which I commend. Keep up the good work.

One of the finest, period
With all of the negative reviews I see on this site (which apparently had questionable motives) I feel the need to write a note in Dr. Weingarten's defense.
I have had the opportunity to work with Dr. Weingarten for many years. I had also been involved in his training.
Dr. Weingarten was, and still is one of the best. I was most impressed by his interaction with patients, especially children. Yes, all doctors are smart people, but some still set the bar pretty high for the rest of us. Dr. Weingarten can identify and solve problems very quickly, which may make patients perceive that they are being rushed. Good doctors should give the impression of confidence and competence in their work. I've always known Dr. Weingarten as introspective, self examining and always trying to improve, but never arrogant.
I have NEVER known Dr. Weingarten to do unnecessary surgery or order unwarranted tests. From the patient's perspective, we all want to be seen NOW, we do not want to wait when we arrive and then we want to spend an hour with the doctor. These goals are at odds. The better the doctor, the more successful the doctor. The more successful the higher the patient load, the higher the patient load the longer the time for an appointment and the shorter the visit. Therefore the best doctors may make some patients feel rushed.
I'm not sure what makes a patient write a bad evaluation for a good doctor. Usually something else that is amiss in the patient's life and the doctor is now targeted as the easy scapegoat for all of their problems. IT IS, however, nice to see that the worst evaluations have many misspelled words as well as very poor grammar.
I am an Otolaryngologist with over 20 years of experience. I guess the best recommendation that I can give Dr. Weingarten is to say that I would, in all confidence, allow him to take care of my children should the need arise without any reservation.
